    Vision test

Take a simple online test and find out how to take care of your vision at BLIKPOL in Sopot.

    Why take the test online?

An online eye test is a quick way to get a preliminary check of your eyesight – without leaving home. It can help you spot any deterioration in visual acuity, colour perception or astigmatism, and suggest whether you should book a professional eye test.

To make the online eye test as reliable as possible:

    • perform it on your phone,
    • maintain the recommended distance from the screen,
    • ensure good lighting,
    • treat the result as an indication, not a diagnosis.

    Step 1

Move approximately half a metre away from the phone screen*.

This is the length of your outstretched arm. Cover your right eye and read the letters in the sixth row.
*We recommend taking the test on your phone rather than large screens due to the different resolutions.

    Step 2

    Now cover your left eye

Try to read the first four letters in the eighth line.

    Step 3

    Keeping your left eye covered...

... read the first letter in each row, from top to bottom. How far down can you reach?

    Step 4

    Now swap eyes

Covering your right eye, see if you can read all the letters in row 8, backwards? And if not, where do you get to?

    Step 5

    How about your night vision?

Is it as good as your daytime one? Let's find out. Cover your left eye and read the letters on the fourth line from the bottom.

    Step 6

    Repeat with the other eye

Also read the fourth line from the bottom, this time starting from the end.

    Step 7

    The final challenge

Cover each eye in turn and see if you can read the letters between the red lines.

    Step 8

    What do my results mean?

If you did well in the last three steps, your vision is probably very good — around 1.0, or 100% acuity. If you could read down to row 8 in the earlier steps, your acuity is approximately 6/6 (100%). If you could only reach row 6, you are probably seeing at around 6/8, or 75%. If you could read row 9 or even row 10, it is possible that your acuity is above 1.0 — above 100%.

These results are entirely indicative — we cannot know for certain whether you were reading from the correct distance or whether your phone has a typical screen resolution. Think of it as a guide, not a diagnosis.

If you could only read the first few rows, or the letters appear blurred without correction, we warmly invite you to book a detailed examination and explore the other resources on our website.

Laser eye surgery might be able to help you, and it could well be a good idea in the future.

    Eye examination

The online test is just the beginning

The result of an online vision test is indicative. It can be helpful as an initial assessment of your vision, but does not replace a professional eye examination and cannot provide a diagnosis. If the result raises any concerns, the next step should be a professional eye examination at the clinic.

    Eye examinations at BLIKPOL

When you visit BLIKPOL, we carry out comprehensive eye examinations — from visual acuity assessment to advanced imaging of the eye's internal structures.

    Biomicroscopy

Detailed assessment of the front and back of the eye performed by an ophthalmologist.

    • Evaluation of the cornea, lens and vitreous body
    • Fundus examination following pupil dilation

    Autokeratometry and keratometry

Initial automatic measurement of refractive error and corneal curvature.

    • Rapid refraction assessment, starting point for further diagnosis
    • Assistance in the selection of glasses and contact lenses

    Visual field assessment (perimetry)

We test visual acuity across the entire field of vision. This helps in the diagnosis of glaucoma and neurological disorders.

    • Detects changes not visible in a standard examination
    • Monitors eye and nervous system conditions

    Optical biometry (IOLMaster)

We precisely measure the parameters of the eye for the selection of intraocular lens power and the planning of laser correction procedures.

    • Very high accuracy of optical calculations
    • An important part of the assessment process

    Non-contact tonometry (iCARE / air-puff)

Quick and gentle measurement of intraocular pressure — no drops and no contact required

    • Glaucoma screening
    • Comfortable measurement in seconds

    Tear film analysis (OSA camera)

Assessment of the quality and stability of the tear film, relevant to symptoms of dry eye and ocular discomfort.

    • Dry eye disease assessment
    • Support in the selection of treatments and eye drops

    3D OCT of the retina

Non-invasive imaging of the retinal layers and the macula with extremely high accuracy.

    • Detects changes not visible in a standard examination
    • Monitors the condition of the retina over time

Corneal topography and tomography (Pentacam 3D)

Three-dimensional imaging of the cornea to assess its shape, thickness and stability.

    • Early detection of corneal changes
    • Safe procedure planning

    Aberrometry iDesign

A detailed analysis of the optics of the eye, sshowing the quality of vision beyond standard refractive error measurement.

    • Detects higher-order aberrations
    • The basis for personalised vision correction

    Patient feedback

    FAQ

We will answer all your questions

What eye problems can be detected with an online test?

An online eye test can initially indicate **short-sightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism** or difficulties with colour recognition.

However, it does not detect eye disease and **does not replace an eye examination** - its role is only to signal that it is worth consulting a specialist.

What should I avoid before an eye examination?

Before your appointment, it is advisable to avoid wearing contact lenses for a few hours, avoid alcohol and bring your current glasses or prescription with you.

If pupil dilation is planned, it is worth bringing sunglasses.

Can you drive after an eye examination?

In most cases, yes. However, if pupil-dilating drops were used during the examination, your vision may be hazy and more sensitive to light for several hours. In this case, it is best to avoid driving on the same day.

When can I see an ophthalmologist without a referral?

It is a good idea to see an ophthalmologist without delay if you notice a progressive deterioration in vision, eye pain, flashes, floaters, redness or watering.

Without a referral, regular eye check-ups are also recommended — particularly from the age of 40 or if you have a systemic condition such as diabetes.

What examinations does the ophthalmologist carry out during the visit?

The range of examinations depends on your symptoms and the purpose of your visit. Most commonly, your ophthalmologist will check your visual acuity, carry out a fundus examination, measure your intraocular pressure and assess your refractive error for glasses or contact lenses. If needed, additional examinations — such as visual field testing or corneal imaging — may also be carried out.
