Vision correction up to the age of 40

Do you recognise yourself in any of these situations?

Most of our patients come with very similar stories. Yours might sound familiar too.

Glasses get in the way during sport, travel and everyday life

Laser eye surgery permanently eliminates the need for contact lenses and glasses.

Fed up with dryness, irritation and burning from contact lenses

After the procedure you no longer wear lenses – the problem disappears along with them.

A visual impairment limits your career or sports opportunities

After correction, it will be easier for you to meet the visual requirements of many professions and disciplines – we will check this together at the qualification assessment.

You calculate how much you spend annually on contact lenses, solutions and glasses

For many patients, the cost of the procedure pays for itself within 2–4 years compared to expenditure on contact lenses.

    Vision correction methods

You don't have to choose the method yourself. During the qualification and consultation, together with the doctor, you will select the safest method for your vision.

    Largest correction range FemtoLASIK

Recommended for standard defects. The laser creates a thin flap in the cornea under which the tissue is modelled. High precision, fast healing and minimal discomfort.

    • Return to work: 1-2 days
    • Disadvantages: up to -13.0 D and +6.0 D

    More

    Najnowocześniejsza technologia SMILE Pro

The most advanced method. The laser creates a microlens inside the cornea through a 2-3 mm incision. Minimal invasiveness

    • Return to work: 1 day
    • Defects: up to -10.0 D, +4.0 D, astigmatism up to 5.0 D

    More

    For thin corneas PRK

One of the first laser correction methods. We remove the corneal epithelium and shape the corneal surface with an excimer laser. Ideal for people with thin corneas and small defects.

    • Return to work: 5-7 days
    • Disadvantages: up to -6.0 D

    More

    Dla wrażliwych rogówek EBK

Modern surface method without cutting, combining the advantages of PRK and Epi-LASIK. Gentle removal of the corneal epithelium with precise laser treatment of the surface.

    • Return to work: 3-4 days
    • Disadvantages: up to -6.0 D

    Laser correction

SMILE Pro – why it is our most popular method

Most of our patients under 40 choose SMILE Pro — mainly because of the shorter recovery time before returning to sport and less interference with the corneal structure. However, it is worth knowing exactly how it works.

What does the SMILE PRO procedure involve?

Laser tworzy cienką soczewkę wewnątrz rogówki — bez cięcia jej powierzchni i bez tworzenia płatka, jak w klasycznym LASIK. Lekarz usuwa tę soczewkę przez niewielkie, kilkumilimetrowe nacięcie. To dlatego convalescence bywa krótsza, a rogówka zachowuje więcej swojej naturalnej wytrzymałości.

For physically active people, this is often a key argument: less intervention on the surface of the eye means a lower risk of flap displacement during contact sports or trauma in the first weeks after the procedure.

    Benefits of SMILE Pro

    • Without creating a corneal flap, allowing the eye to heal faster.
    • Minimal surgical incision of approximately 2-4 mm
    • Return to non-contact sports is usually possible after 1 week.
    p

However, SMILE Pro is not a universal choice for everyone — the range of corrected defects and corneal requirements are different than with FemtoLASIK. Whether this method is right for you will be carefully checked during the qualification assessment.

    Laser vision correction

FemtoLASIK – a proven method for a wider range of refractive errors

FemtoLASIK is one of the longest-established and best-researched laser vision correction methods in the world. We choose it particularly when the range of the defect or the structure of the cornea go beyond the capabilities of SMILE Pro.

What does the FemtoLASIK procedure involve?

The procedure is carried out in two stages. First, a femtosecond laser creates a thin flap on the corneal surface and gently lifts it. Next, an excimer laser reshapes the underlying tissue, correcting the vision defect. Finally, the flap is returned to its place and adheres naturally, with no need for stitches.

Because the laser operates beneath a lifted flap, it is possible to correct a wider range of defects than in flapless methods – including higher myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

    Benefits of FemtoLASIK

    • Wide range of correction up to -13 D
    • Reduce or eliminate the need to wear multiple pairs of glasses.
    • Eliminuje ryzyko zaćmy w operowanym oku - sztuczna soczewka nie mętnieje, tak jak naturalna.
    p

FemtoLASIK is suitable for a broader group of patients than SMILE Pro, but involves a slightly longer recovery time before returning to contact sports due to the presence of the corneal flap. Which method will be appropriate in your case will be determined precisely during the qualification assessment.

    Assessment

Are you eligible for laser eye surgery?

Initially, many people under the age of 40 may be eligible for laser eye surgery. The final decision is always made by a doctor after detailed examinations – in particular, an assessment of the cornea, the stability of the defect, and the general condition of the eyes.

    Who can perform the procedure?

    • You are over 18 years of age
    • Your vision defect has been stable for at least 2 years
    • Your prescription falls within the range for laser eye surgery
    • You are neither pregnant nor breastfeeding
    • You do not have any active eye diseases

When might the procedure not be possible?

    • Unstable vision defect
    • Too thin or irregular cornea
    • Corneal cone
    • Active eye diseases
    • Some autoimmune diseases

    Qualification

    From qualification to full vision

The entire process is simple and well-organised. At every stage, you know what is happening, what you can expect, and when you will return to your everyday activities.

    Within 2 hours
    Within 2 hours

    Assessment

During the qualification process we carry out detailed eye examinations: measurement of the defect, assessment of the cornea, examination of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye, and a consultation with a doctor. It is then that you will find out whether you can have the procedure and which method will be best for you.

Here we select an individual method.

    15-25 minutes

    Procedure

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic eye drops. It does not require a general anaesthetic or a hospital stay. After the procedure, you will receive aftercare instructions, eye drops and information on how to look after your eyes during the first few days.

    Rest

    First few days

In the first few hours or days you may experience watering, sensitivity to light, a burning sensation or fluctuations in visual acuity. This is a normal stage of healing. It is worth planning a quieter time and limiting screen work.

    A marked improvement
    A marked improvement

    First week

In many patients, vision improves quickly. You can gradually return to your daily activities as advised by your doctor. With surface procedures, the healing process takes longer, so the return to full activity is more gradual.

A check-up helps you to safely return to activity.
    Stabilisation of results

    Month 3-6

The eye is gradually healing and vision is stabilising. In most patients, the full effect is assessed after a few months. Follow-up visits help to check that everything is progressing correctly.

    FAQ

We will answer all your concerns.

Does laser eye surgery correct astigmatism?

Yes, in many patients laser eye surgery can correct astigmatism, which is blurred or distorted vision resulting from an irregular shape of the cornea. The possibility of correction depends on the magnitude of the astigmatism and the parameters of the eye.

What if my vision defect increases after the procedure?

Therefore, before the procedure, we check the stability of the defect. If the defect has been changing in recent months, the doctor may recommend postponing the correction.

Laser surgery corrects your current vision defect, but it does not stop the natural changes in the eye. After the age of 40, presbyopia—difficulty with close-up reading—may also develop.

When can I return to the gym and sport?

It depends on the method. After SMILE Pro, returning to light, non-contact activity is sometimes possible after about a week. After FemtoLASIK, a 2–4 week break is usually recommended, and after EBK or TransPRK about 4–6 weeks.

Swimming, saunas, contact sports and intense workouts always require separate medical advice.

Can I have laser eye surgery before pregnancy?

Yes, many female patients choose to have laser eye surgery before a planned pregnancy. It is important that at the time of suitability assessment and the procedure, you are neither pregnant nor breastfeeding.

Following pregnancy and breastfeeding, hormone levels can affect vision stability and dry eyes, which is why we plan the procedure when the situation has stabilised.
