Are lenses for me?
You don't want to wear glasses every day or you are not currently eligible for laser treatment
Do you have astigmatism, presbyopia or anisometropia? or irregular cornea (e.g. keratoconus)
You are active (sport, dance, working on the move) and you want a full field of vision
For children and adolescents with progressive myopia in certain cases we consider o orthokeratology (night lenses) after an assessment
Types of contact lenses
We select lenses after a full ocular surface and refraction assessment, with fitting of trial models at the appointment. Below is a quick guide to the available options — the final decision is made after your consultation at BLIKPOL.
Step-by-step lens fitting

Assessment and measurement
Medical history, ocular surface assessment (tear film, eyelid margins), refraction measurement, corneal topography and tomography (for astigmatism and corneal irregularities).

Selection and trial fitting
We fit trial lenses and assess centration, movement, visual acuity and comfort, observing how the eye responds after several minutes of wear.

Fitting technique and lens care
We teach safe insertion and removal, cleaning, storage and replacement schedule.

Follow-up
We arrange a follow-up visit (usually after 1–2 weeks), then at least every 6 months thereafter, in line with current standards.

FAQ
We will answer all your questions
From what age can a child wear lenses?
There is no lower age limit — what matters is your child's maturity, motivation and willingness to cooperate with fitting and removal. If you are unsure whether your child is ready, book an appointment at our clinic and our team will help you assess the current options. Children of early school age often manage very well.
Do contact lenses damage your vision?
No. Properly fitted and worn as prescribed, they do not impair vision. Problems such as redness or reduced visual acuity are usually due to prolonged wear, sleeping in lenses, poor hygiene or infrequent check-ups. If something concerns you — remove your lenses and contact us.
How should I care for my lenses?
Always wash and dry your hands, use fresh lens care solution (don't add extra), clean your lenses using the rub & rinse method, do not use tap water, change lens case every 1-3 months. If you experience pain, photophobia or purulent discharge - remove lenses and see your doctor immediately.
How should I prepare for my lens fitting appointment?
Stop wearing soft lenses for at least 24 hours beforehand. For rigid (RGP) lenses, ideally stop 3–7 days before. Come with your glasses, without eye make-up and with a list of your current medications. If you have any symptoms of infection — such as pain or purulent discharge — postpone your appointment.
I have dry eyes - can I wear contact lenses?
Yes, but once the ocular surface has been stabilised and the material/wearing mode selected. Sometimes we recommend one-day or tear film regeneration intervals (dry eye disease can worsen lens discomfort - we set the plan individually).
How often should I come for a follow-up?
After your first fitting, usually after 1–2 weeks, then every 6 months or more frequently if you are prone to dry eye or inflammation.
Can I swim or sleep in my contact lenses?
We do not recommend swimming in contact lenses. If you absolutely must — use daily disposable lenses only and discard them immediately afterwards. Sleeping in lenses is only permitted if your doctor has specifically selected an extended wear mode and explicitly recommends it.
