What does the price of laser vision correction depend on?
Each of the LKW methods mentioned above comes at a different price. Why is there such a wide range — from 5,900 zł for PRK Standard to 12,900 zł for SMILE Pro?
The price of laser vision correction varies depending on the type of method, the level of personalisation and the technology used.
Remember that in Blikpol the method is chosen by the doctor after qualification, based on the thickness of the cornea, the size of the defect and the parameters of the eye, rather than the patient's budget. Sometimes, a person prepared for SMILE Pro is recommended PRK Standard because it will be a safer solution for their cornea. The opposite also happens: sometimes a more advanced method turns out to be necessary despite the expectation of a basic treatment option.
Type of method
- surface (PRK, EBK) - the cheapest, as it is technologically the least complex. The laser works on the surface of the cornea
- with corneal flap (FemtoLASIK, iLASIK and iDesign) — more expensive, as they require two lasers: a femtosecond laser and an excimer laser
- micro-lens (SMILE Pro) - the most expensive because it is the latest technology available. The laser creates a microlens inside the cornea, which is removed through a 2-3 mm incision
Level of personalisation
The „individualised" versions (PRK Individualised, EBK Individualised, iLASIK iDesign) use advanced 3D eye mapping - the laser takes into account fine higher-order aberrations specific only to your eye. This gives you a higher quality of vision, especially at night. This is why the PRK Individualised costs £1,000 more than the PRK Standard.
Technology and consumable items
Some lasers require disposable consumable components for each patient and the use of additional advanced technology such as individual 3D eye mapping. This affects the price.
Price of specialist examinations at Blikpol clinic
A specialist eye examination at Blikpol costs PLN 300 and includes refraction, intraocular pressure, biomicroscopy, fundus examination and a medical consultation. It is a comprehensive eye health check — suitable once a year or when you notice a deterioration in your vision.
The three most common scenarios:
- you want to check yourself in general - select specialist ophthalmic examination (PLN 300). Refraction, intraocular pressure, biomicroscopy, fundus and medical consultation included. Once a year or when you notice a deterioration in your vision
- you only need new glasses or lenses - just Visit to the optometrist (PLN 200). Shorter, without an eye health check, but enough for a glasses prescription
- you have specific indications (glaucoma in the family, suspected retinal diseases, planned laser eye surgery) — you choose individual tests: Retinal OCT, visual field perimetry, corneal pachymetry, Pentacam, iDesign aberration testing.
