I am a chef by profession. My defect before surgery was -20 D on my right eye and -16 D on my left eye.

I searched for a very long time for a clinic that would agree to carry out laser correction on me. I wrote to various places and was refused everywhere because my defect was too big.

Blikpol was the last place I wrote to. I very quickly received a reply telling me to come in for a qualifying examination.

Going to the examination, I did not have high hopes. However, the kind doctor Czuszynski, after examination, said that he would undertake the procedure. My joy was indescribable.

I won't say I wasn't scared, but the prospect of regaining my sight pushed that fear away .

On the day of the procedure, I was looked after by the super-sympathetic Blikpol staff. The preparation for the procedure and the wait dragged on mercilessly. Fear was mixed with joy that it was just around the corner.

The procedure itself turned out to be not so scary. The doctor explained everything to me and made me realise that if I cooperated, even the discomfort wouldn't be so great. Well, I gave up and indeed it turned out that "fear has big eyes".

I will always remember my first reaction after the procedure. When the nurse helped me to stand up. Opposite me at the door stood the doctor, and my first words .... Dear doctor, I can see you. The doctor was smiling and replied to me that after all it was supposed to be like that, but I in this euphoria replied . But I can see you and I can see that you are smiling and I have no glasses or lenses. It's a miracle!

Today, just remembering that moment makes me smile because, after all, it was immediately after the surgery and I felt like I had been given a second better life.

My recovery was very quick. Before the surgery, when I signed the consent form, I expected that my defect in the right eye could not be removed completely. Today I know that Dr Czuszynski has done the impossible.

Today, my right eye is -1.5 and my left eye is 0.

I have regained more than my sight. I got my life back. I saw a world that had not been so colourful for a long time. I am enjoying life by the handful. I explore, I travel, I work . I live life to the full. I am fulfilling dreams that were previously out of reach. All thanks to BLIKPOL and the people who work there, who make dreams come true. Thank you
