Nematode infection - causes, symptoms and treatment

What do you need to know?

Nematode is a skin parasite that lives in the sebaceous glands and hair follicles, causing inflammation of the eyelid margins and skin problems.
Symptoms of infection include redness, itching, burning of the eyelids, decreased vision and acne-like skin lesions.
Treatment includes the use of anti-parasitic preparations, ointments, creams, tea tree oil and maintaining high skin and environmental hygiene.
If infection is suspected, see a dermatologist or ophthalmologist, avoid sharing items and keep your everyday belongings clean.
