Our Clinic is often approached by patients interested in treatment during the summer, due to Blikpol's attractive tourist location, which is popular with seaside holiday enthusiasts.
They are often driven by the desire to use their holiday time to combine relaxation in Poland's most popular resort with getting rid of a bothersome visual impairment.
Bywa jednak, że mają oni wątpliwości, czy korygowanie wzroku latem jest całkowicie bezpieczne. Laserowa korekcja wzroku can be just as safe in summer as at other times of the year, provided the patient follows a few recommendations.
The most important of these concerns post-treatment management. The use of sunglasses is important, especially on sunny and windy days. In addition, the patient must not use a solarium or sauna for a month. One should also not travel to so-called „warm countries” or the tropics until the corneas have healed, which can take up to two months. Diving in bodies of water is forbidden until at least one month, preferably two, due to the increased risk of eye infections.
Of course, the same recommendations also apply outside the summer season, but it is during the warmer days that they should be particularly borne in mind. Of course, carrying out the treatment during the summer holiday season does not rule out holiday plans; they just need to be modified and adapted to create favourable conditions for healing, by choosing light activities instead of heavy physical exertion and water baths without dipping the head instead of intensive swimming or diving. A good type of leisure activity will certainly be sightseeing or walking, however, sports, cinema or reading books are also allowed if we use these types of pastimes carefully and in moderation.
Any time of year, therefore, can be suitable to undergo the procedure if we plan everything out and make an effort to create the conditions for our eyes to heal properly and quickly.
