Protective eyewear after laser vision correction

Protective eyewear after laser vision correction

What do you need to know?

    • Okulary ochronne po laserowej korekcji wzroku są ważne, aby chronić oczy przed podrażnieniami i uszkodzeniami w okresie rekonwalescencji.
    • Shortly after the procedure, special night guards should be worn to prevent accidental rubbing of the eye and to aid proper healing.
    • During the day, sunglasses with full UV protection are recommended to protect the sensitive eye from harmful light.
    • It is best to choose glasses with UV400 filter, polarisation and durable lenses for comfort and protection.
    • Wearing sunglasses after surgery helps to avoid complications and supports the process of returning vision to full function.

During recovery from laser vision correction, it is particularly important to protect the eyes from various factors that could irritate them. Therefore - although standard, corrective lenses are no longer necessary - glasses can still be very useful.

Is it necessary to wear protective eyewear after laser vision correction?

Shortly after the surgery, our patients are given special protective covers. These are worn at night for the first week to avoid accidental rubbing of the eye, which could adversely affect the corneal flap cut off during surgery - remember, it needs to adhere well to the eye. The covers are designed so that they do not cause discomfort during sleep.

Laser vision correction - protective eyewear

Which protective eyewear after laser vision correction?

As the eyes require increased protection after laser vision correction, it is worth investing in sunglasses of the best possible quality. What features should you look out for?

    • Full-spectrum UV protection - this is an essential feature of good sunglasses. Before buying, it is worth making sure that the model you choose has 100% protection against UVA and UVB rays - such a feature is usually labelled UV400.
    • Polarisation - polarised glasses have a built-in filter that protects against horizontal radiation, i.e. dazzling light reflected from, for example, snow or water. This feature helps to better protect the eyes from fatigue and excessive strain. The anti-reflector also increases visual comfort and improves colour perception.
    • Lens material - plastic lenses are very light, but they deteriorate more quickly when exposed to light and heat. More resistant and better for the eye is optical glass, which also protects the eye better against heat. A third option is polycarbonate glass, which is resistant to mechanical damage - it is not easy to break, but it can be scratched.
    • Glass colour - black, or rather grey glasses are the most popular - they work well in all situations and do not distort colours. However, for better contrast, you can choose brown-tinted or mirrored glasses, which also provide good protection against glaring light.

Is it necessary to wear protective eyewear after laser vision correction?

Of course, we recommend wearing protective glasses after laser vision correction. Additional eye protection after the procedure is extremely important in order to be able to enjoy its effects for a very long time.

Which sunglasses after laser vision correction?

It is no secret that the eyes require a certain recovery period after the procedure itself. The procedure is simply quite taxing on them. There is no way to wear lenses immediately afterwards, but sunglasses alone prove to be very helpful. Remember to protect your eyes from the harmful effects of the sun's rays. It's extremely important in the process of recovering your sight to its full capacity, but you don't have to worry - within a few weeks everything will be back to normal and you'll be able to enjoy your sight better than ever before.
