Sometimes patients who do not qualify for laser vision correction feel very disappointed, accompanied by sadness, regret, sometimes even tears. We fully understand that every patient who wants to see clearly, when coming to our centre to get rid of their glasses, is set on qualifying for the procedure. Anyone, literally any patient can be disqualified from the procedure. It doesn't matter if the defect you have is small, if your eyes are well-groomed and healthy, or if your siblings qualify for the procedure (even twins). Everyone is different and unique, so the doctor's individual approach and thorough analysis of the test results is the key to a safe procedure. The qualifying tests are designed to rule out any contraindications to the procedure, and there is a whole list of them. These range from the parameters of the cornea on which the procedure is performed - its thickness, curvature, diameter or steepness, through eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal degeneration or visual impairment to systemic diseases such as RA or diabetes. Therefore, we advise you first of all not to set your mind to the outcome of the qualification. If you are thinking of undergoing the procedure, first of all schedule only the laser correction tests. The examinations are valid for three months, so you will have enough time to prepare for the procedure and choose a suitable date. Even if you do not manage to undergo the procedure in the allotted time, it is usually sufficient to „check-up” the patient before the procedure itself (we do this free of charge). Only after a longer period of time - usually more than 6 months, or a greater risk that the defect or condition of the eyes may have changed, will a full qualifying examination be required again.
