I always joked that I was born with glasses on.
I had a significant eye defect (OD +9, OS +7.75), along with astigmatism and reduced vision in my right eye. Glasses accompanied me throughout my life, starting from a very young age. As I got older, wearing glasses became increasingly uncomfortable, especially because I’m an active person.
During my studies, I thought it was worth trying laser eye correction.
At the age of 21, I underwent qualification tests, but unfortunately, I didn’t pass them, and I had to accept failure.
After five years, at the urging of my long-time acquaintance, an optometrist, I decided to try again, and that’s how I ended up at Blikpol. I was a bit afraid that I wouldn’t pass the qualification tests again, but a warm July day was kind to me. The receptionist offered me a surgery date in four days, but I needed some time to get used to the decision. September 30, 2015, became a wonderful day when I said goodbye to thick lenses.
On that day, I was calm, and early in the morning, I set off for Sopot. I decided that whatever happens, happens. Dr. Czuszyński explained the entire course of the procedure step by step. I was aware that my defect wouldn’t be completely corrected; I would only see as well as with my best-fitted glasses. After the procedure, which lasted a few minutes, my eyes burned and teared up a lot, but it only lasted a few hours. The next day, I saw a blurry image, but I could move around without glasses.
After that, it only got better; at every follow-up visit, there were improvements in my vision.
One funny situation I remember is a few minutes after the procedure, my brother calls me and the first thing he asks me is, “Sis, can you see that it’s me calling you?” I read the caller ID on my phone!
If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to undergo the procedure again, which improved my quality of life. Since then, I’m no longer a shy girl in glasses; I’ve become more confident and happier.
I highly recommend Blikpol Clinic; it has a friendly atmosphere, and wonderful people work there.
