What is the PRK Standard and what does it consist of?<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy<\/strong>) is the oldest and proven method<\/strong> of surface laser vision correction. As in EBK, it involves removing the epithelium (the superficial layer of the cornea) and reshaping the corneal tissue with an excimer laser.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Who is the PRK procedure for? <\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\n
<\/span><\/div>\n\n

The PRK method is used in patients for whom a flap-based procedure (LASIK\/FemtoLASIK) is indicated:<\/p>\n

  • with thin corneas<\/span> , or where deeper methods cannot be safely performed,<\/li>\n
  • patients who accept a longer healing period<\/strong> in exchange for maximum corneal biomechanical safety<\/span> and no flap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
