What is EBK Standard and what does it involve?<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

EBK (Epi-Bowman's Keratectomy)<\/strong> This is a superficial laser vision correction procedure, used when the structure of the eye does not allow for the safe use of deeper procedures. It combines the precision of an excimer laser with gentle removal of the epithelium and preservation of the Bowman's layer<\/strong>which promotes stable healing. A therapeutic contact lens is worn for a few days after the procedure.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Who is the EBK procedure for? <\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\n
<\/span><\/div>\n\n

EBK is recommended for patients who, for anatomical or medical reasons<\/span><\/strong> are better suited to a surface procedure. It is the method of first choice for patients:<\/p>\n

  • with thin corneas<\/strong> , or where deeper methods cannot be safely performed,<\/li>\n
  • with deep eye sockets, narrow eyelid gaps or atypical corneas,<\/li>\n
  • at risk of eye injury - those involved in contact sports or working in uniformed services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
